The finish is bitter, ending with a rich, fresh, yeasty sourness. The taste is pale and floral, with a spiced orange/lemon zest, in addition to a general wheat flavour, providing a honey biscuit like taste. There are no banana aromas which are typical of the classic Bavarian style, setting it apart as an urban alternative. The aroma has noticeable yeast esters, providing a strong citrus zest, in addition to black pepper cloves. Yet it had consistency and remained a fixture on the Beer until the final sips, leaving a mediocre patched lacing down the walls of the glass. However after a couple of minutes it did dissipate to around one third of the size. A nice cloudy golden-yellow body supports a creamy large white head, rising past the rim, standing strong and not leaking down the side of the glass. The pour deserves some sort of congratulations, or perhaps something like a medal or a trophy, because this Hefeweizen pours exactly as the commercial pictures appearance. Named after the house of printing revolutionary Peter Schöffer, where a brewery was later founded ( Mainzer Schöfferhof). Schöfferhofer Hefeweizen Naturtrüb is the most popular variant in the classic Schöfferhofer range. It still has a little yeast in the bottle and the increased addition of hops it tastes a bit bitter, at the same time very fresh and fruity-spicy. And visually, the naturally cloudy Hefeweizen has much to offer.
